LED Tubes

A ‘fluorescent tube’ is such a standardised idea and name that a retro-fit LED tube is sometimes paradoxically called an LED fluorescent tube! You’ll note that the term has craftily been sneaked in here, too.

It’s increasingly the case that various sizes of fluorescent tube are being supplanted by a more efficient, less toxic, more eco-friendly, longer-lasting technology. Do we need to explain why? No, but we can expand a little further: LED tubes contain no mercury, they emit very little in the way of CO² or UV, and they last for about 30,000 hours. For any given lamp or fitting an LED sips a mere 50% of the watts that a fluorescent uses.

What else? There is more, actually, including the fact that LED is an instant-on form of lighting that doesn’t keep you hanging around, waiting for a flickering lamp to warm up and find its feet. An LED light also doesn’t need to combat the adverse effects of subliminal-style flickering, the like of which has caused many a fluorescent headache in workplaces across the globe.

In summary, if you’re looking to replace a fluorescent tube, aside from the long-term potential to save money you might also consider that it’s a healthier choice for both you and the planet!
